Jeanne D’Arc (R97)

The French helicopter carrier Jeanne D’Arc (R97), accompanied by the destroyer Georges Leygues (D640) started a visit on 19th April 2002. On board were four French Army Air Corps helicopters, two Westland/Aerospatialle Pumas and two Gazelles, all with Armee de Terre titles.

One Puma, C-ZP, c/n 1634, was in a sand and tan camouflage, whilst the second one, C-ZC, c/n 1239, was in green and earth, and also had a radar nose.

A. Puma C-ZC 1st Regiment of Combat Helicopters c/n 1239, green and earth camouflage, and radar nose. Carried “Armee de Terre” titles.
A. Puma C-ZP 1st Regiment of Combat Helicopters c/n 1634, sand and tan camouflage. Carried “Armee de Terre” titles.
Sud-Aviation 319B Aleuettes 302   c/n 2302. Carried ‘Marine’ titles.

AIRCRAFT SERIAL SHIP/SQUADRON NOTES
Dauphin 507 FNS Surcouf Seen at Luqa on 10.03.20. Ship entered harbour on the 12th.
Lynx 810 FS Dupleix Ship entered harbour on 08.05.14. Helicopter, using c/a FNY 5502, arrived at Park 7, conducted pilot training, before returning to the ship.
AS565 Panther 452 FNS Aeon Noted on 11.11.20. Ship sailed from Malta on the 13th.
AS565 Panther 506 FS Forbin Ship entered harbour on 03.12.15. Helicopter landed at MIA on the 8th on a medevac mission.
AS-565SA Panther 511 Aconit Entry into harbour by the Corvete unknown, but photographed on 26.04.22. Departed on the 30th. Helicopter took off from the ship as it departed harbour, making a flight round the Maltese Islands, and two flybys on runway 05/23.

NHI NH-90 06   c/n 1163. Frigate entered harbour on 26.06.22 departing on 01.07.22. Helicopter made a flight around Malta and two T&G’s (touch & go’s), c/s FNY 5664, prior to returning to the ship before the ship’s berthing.
