DATE AIRCRAFT SQDN SERIAL NOTES
25.02.80 Si. CH-53D   158691/JM Involved in rescue mission off Malta, using callsigns Mission 419 and JM691. Also seen on the same day was T-39 159362, c/s JM119, but relevance to rescue mission unknown.
05.10.83 Nord Noratlas French AF 172/XR Aircraft went u/s on the monthly diplomatic flight. A second Noratlas, 96/63-VH, brought spares and technicians. Both aircraft left on the 6th.
11.07.84 BAe Sea Harrier Indian Navy IN602/IN606 Both aircraft had arrived the previous day. 20 minutes after take-off, either one or both aircraft reported oxygen problems, and returned to Luqa. Departed later in the morning.
06.01.85 BAe Hawk Abu Dhabi AF 1009/1001 Both aircraft had arrived on the 4th, but remained in Malta until clearance to land at Luxor, Egypt, had been received.
09.12.88 SH-3D Sea King Italian Navy MM5018N/6-16 Landed in Malta whilst on SAR missions following gale force winds on the 8th.

16.03.89 CC-142 (DHC-8) Canadian Armed Forces 142801 Spares were brought by CC-142 142802 on the 17th. 142801 departed on the 19th.
05.12.89 L. C-130E U.S.A.F. 64-0502 Aircraft suffered VHF radio failure inbound to Malta. Also left without a VHF radio. Hercules was one of a number of support aircraft used by the US military during the Bush-Gorbachov summit, held in Malta during December 1989.
