Ferry flights

Whereas delivery flights are usually aircraft being flown to new owners, aircraft on ferry flights remain the property of their owners.

A.321-211PTF Laudamotion D-AEUA Arrived for a fuel stop on 28.12.21 on its way to Muscat, Oman. c/n 1988.
Air Tractor AT-502B   N2358P Night stop between 05-06.04.22.  
Air Tractor AT-802   N6009X Arrived from Heraklion on 10.03.22. Departed on the 14th due to bad weather at Jersey. Also carried RJ2551 on the fin. c/n 802-4008.
Ayres S2R Turbo Thrush Agricair Z-LEF Two-seat version.
These seven aircraft were on their way from Zimbabwe to Morocco for crop-spraying purposes, night-stopping between 10/11.12.88. Five of them would again be seen the following year, but destination, from/to, unknown.

Avro RJ70 Bahrain Defence Force A9C-BRF c/s BAH7. Landed on 27.08.21 for a technical stop. The aircraft was being flown to Bahrain after maintenance work at Norwich, UK. (Information courtesy John Visanich.) c/n 1267. Test registration G6-267. This was one of four aircraft originally purchased by Air Malta as 9H-ACP. Sold/leased to Azzurra Air (EI-CPL), Abu Dhabi Amiri Flight (A6-LIW), Formula 1 (M-STRY).

BAC 1-11-410AK Commonwealth Oil Refining N5036 Arrived for a re-fuelling stop on 30.06.74, between 18:31-20:10, from Tehran to Paris. c/n 78.
Beech 18   N663TB in Malta between 09-10.08.09. No further details available. c/n BA-663. www.aircraft-data.com gives the reg as current.
Beech D18S Libyan American Oil Co. N1827D Arrived from Benina, Libya on 29.07.62 14:20 departing afterwards for Rome. Flight number given as Ferry 1. c/n A-827. Later re-registered as N486F, and seen at MIACO at Hal-Far.
Beech D18   N5967C Ex Air Libya (probably leased), delivery to the USA. At Luqa on 24.09.70, departure date? c/n A-842. Registration with the Bailey Leasing Corp. cancelled on 22.02.71.
Beech AT-11   N69574 Night stop between 30-31.08.56, landing at 20:30, departing at 11:05. Arrived via Keflavik & Blackbushe, for Juba, Sudan. c/n 3239. Operator not listed in Custom records, but http://www.warbirdsdirectory.goodall.com.au/beech18-production/beech18-part-1.pdf gives it as Aero Survey Corp, outfitted for magnetometer mineral aerial survey work. Also registered as ZS-CFN to African Surveys Ply Ltd. in 1957.

Casa C295W Royal Thai Army 16150 Arrived from Hurghada, Egypt on 08.10.21, probably on its way back to Airbus for maintenance. (Information courtesy John Visanich.)  
DC-4-1049 South African Airways Historic Flight ZS-AUB Aircraft seen in Malta between 25-27.05.00. Believed heading to Switzerland, but not seen on its return journey. c/n 42984.
DH Flamingo B.O.A.C. G-AGBY Delivered via Gibraltar and Malta for operations in Egypt, circa 1941/42. One of at least eight such aircraft, including G-AFYE & K.  
Edgar Percival EP.9 Prospector Bahamas Helicopters (UK) G-APCS Landed on 11.08.57 at 15:10. No departure details available. Arrived via Croydon, Geneva & Rome for light freight and communications work in Libya. c/n 24. G-43-3. First flight during 12.56. Crashed in Gibraltar Harbour on 24.08.62.
Edgar Percival EP.9 Prospector Bahamas Helicopters (UK) G-APCT Landed on 11.08.57 at 14:50. No departure details available. Arrived via Croydon, Geneva & Rome for light freight and communications work in Libya. c/n 25. G-43-4. First flight on 11.07.57. Re-registered EC-ASO during 04.62. Derelict at Cuatro Vientos, Madrid between 1978-83, the remains being removed by 1989.
Fairchild F.27 Saudi N747L Being delivered to Saudi Arabia, on lease to Saudi from Hughes Airwest. Landed at Luqa on 18.04.77 for a night stop. c/n 38. Aircraft was destroyed beyond repair on 03.03.78, when its undercarriage collapsed when stationary. No injuries.
Fairchild F.27A Saudi N746L Being delivered to Saudi Arabia, on lease to Saudi from Hughes Airwest. Noted at Luqa on 06.01.77, probably its arrival date for a night stop. c/n 37.
Fairchild F.27J Saudi N749L Being delivered to Saudi Arabia, on lease to Saudi from Hughes Airwest. Landed at Luqa on 04.05.78 for a night stop. Previously listed under the Deliveries page. c/n 63.

Fokker 50 Tanzanian Govt. 5H-TGF Night stop between 06/07.07.21. Being flown Woensdrecht for maintenance, but did not use Malta on their return flight. c/n 20231, pi PH-JXG.
Gr. Ag-Cat Dutch Air Sprayers D-FACU Arrived on 23.02.70, in company with N8285. c/n 288 Both of these aircraft appeared to be on lease from Agrarflug. DBR on 22.08.75, no fatalities. Departure dates unknown.

Mi-8MT SKOL RA-22440 Helicopter arrived on the 9th at the end of a lease to the United Nations. Departure on this day delayed by technical problems. Left on the 11th.  
Mi-8 UN Humanitarian Air Services RA-25489 Re-fuelling stop on 11.01.22.  
Quest Kodiak 100   N285DK Arrived on 28.02.22, departing for Heraklion on 01.03.22. c/n 100-0285.
Short S.25 Sunderland Mk. V 203sqd, RAF PP112 Aircraft was being flown from Pembroke Docks, in Wales, to the RAF’s Far East Command. Arrived on 16.07.56, departing for Fanara, Egypt the following day.  
Short SC.7 Skyvan   G-AWSG Date when noted at Luqa unknown, but according to the website rzjets.net, this aircraft was leased by the Short company to Ghana Airways in June 1969. c/n SH1851.
