United Kingdom – aircraft/helicopter carriers

This section is divided in two parts, aircraft and helicopter carriers. For the purpose of this page, no distinction has been made between the two types, although their purpose and mode of operation are entirely different. The second part concerns ships that can carry one or two helicopters. In each section, the ships are listed in alphabetical order.

Information about Buccaneers and Phantoms taken from the Aircraft Illustrated Specials RAF Buccaneer and RAF Phantom, both edited by Peter R. Foster. As they were published in 1987 and 1989 respectively, the histories listed are not complete. The Phantom was retired from RAF service in 1991, the Buccaneer in 1993. Additional details taken from the www.ukserials.com website.

In the links below, Misc. refers to visits by ships capable of carrying one or two helicopters.
